What’s Required: Upgrade all lighting systems to meet the New York City Energy Conservation Code. This includes:
Interior Lighting Power Allowances: Adhere to the maximum allowed power.
Lighting Controls: Install controls for interior lighting, light reduction, and automatic shutoff.
Tandem Wiring: Use tandem wiring where required.
Exit Signs & Exterior Lighting: Upgrade as per the standards.
For Non-Residential Spaces:
Install sub-meters for each tenant space of 10,000 square feet or more, or each floor over 10,000 square feet with multiple tenants.
Monthly Statements: Each tenant must receive a monthly statement showing:
The amount of electricity used as measured by the sub-meter.
Any charges for electricity.
For shared sub-meters, the statement should also indicate the tenant’s proportion of the total electricity used.
Conduct an energy audit and lighting assessment.
Upgrade all non-compliant lighting fixtures to LED.
